How much is the weekly rent?

Your rent will vary depending on the type of room you want to book, but we have plenty of affordable options. In fact, we have 8 different rent rates available, starting from as little as £129.50 per person (per week) for a shared, self-contained flat.

It’s important to live somewhere that won’t overstretch your budget, so we provide plenty of choice to help you keep your finances on track.

Is it possible to share a flat with my friends?

Yes, you can! Going to University is an exciting time and we know it’s even more fun if you can share the experience with your best mates.

We have cluster flats which consist of 3 to 7 rooms so you can choose to live with all your friends and start enjoying life as ‘flatmates’ instead of just ‘mates’.

Are friends and family allowed to visit?

It’s important to stay in touch with family or old friends while you’re studying at University and we think it’s a great idea to let them visit and stay over in your new home.

If you would like to invite someone to visit, they can stay in your room for a maximum of two days – as long as they register with reception on arrival. All guests have to register with our team for safety reasons, so please let them know and we look forward to checking them in.

Do you have a maintenance team?

We understand how annoying it is when something suddenly develops a fault. That’s why we provide a 24/7 service of reporting maintenance issues. Simply log your problem and we’ll send someone out to fix it as soon as they’re available.

Do you offer a catering service?

In your home, you’ll find a budding chef with cooking skills they may have yet to uncover… you! Each apartment includes a self-contained kitchen so we don’t provide catering. We let you discover and develop your cooking abilities, as well as giving you an excuse to have fun with your flatmates. Try making pizza together… you’ll laugh for hours!

Do you offer accommodation for couples or families?

Who are we to stand in the way of true love? It just wouldn’t be right. We’re happy to offer accommodation to couples, providing each person is a student. We hope you’ll live happily ever, too.

How do I apply for accommodation?

You can apply now! Simply click here to be directed to our application page.

Is car parking provided at the accommodation?

Good news… Car parking permits are issued on a first come first served basis at an additional cost of just £5 per week. If you’d like a parking space, please submit your request as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Is it possible to choose my room?

Yes, you can. Rooms are available on a first come first served basis so please apply as soon as you possible, using the resident portal. Simply select the room you would like to book and we’ll let you know if it’s available.

What does the rent include?

  • Water and electricity bills
  • Contents insurance (personal items such as laptops etc)
  • High speed Wi-Fi
  • Parcel service
  • Hospitality welcome and service
  • On-site maintenance staff

Like we said, we like to keep things simple… and affordable!

What facilities does the accommodation comprise of?

Our on-site facilities are all you need for the ideal student lifestyle, specially designed to create a home you’ll love:

  • Social lounge
  • Cinema Room
  • Function Room
  • Laundry Room
  • Cycle Storage
  • Parking (chargeable)
  • 24 hour security
  • High speed Wi-Fi
What happens if I can't pay my rent?

Please make sure you view the payment plan before signing your contract to ensure that you will have sufficient funds to support yourself whilst at University. It can be difficult to stick to a budget and we recommend being careful with your finances and keeping an eye on your spending. We don’t want to kill your fun in any way, we just don’t want you to end up stressed over rent. If you’re struggling, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss your issues and put you in touch with the appropriate support.

Non-payment of rent is not something you can ignore – you are legally bound to pay each instalment on time as part of your contract.  Remember, that’s a legal document so failing to pay your rent can lead to eviction from your home. We don’t ever want it to come to that so if you think you’ll have a problem making your next rent payment, head down to reception now and we’ll talk it over.

What security is available at the accommodation?

It makes us happy to know you’re safe and we take security very seriously. That’s why there’s 24 hour security as well as CCTV in designated areas. This is your home and we want you to feel secure here.

When can I move in?

Ready to join us? We can’t wait to meet you either!

We’ll send you set dates and times for when you can collect your keys so please keep an eye on your Inbox. Accommodation will be available before the start of your course and details will be provided once your accommodation has been confirmed. If you’ve just applied and are confirmed to move in, please be patient and look out for an email.

Will I have to pay anything in advance?

There’s a lot to think about when moving to your University. We like to keep things simple – so you can plan for your costs and keep track of your finances more easily.

To accept and confirm your room, you’ll be required to pay a damage deposit of £250 and £350 advanced rent (£600 in total). Your £250 deposit will be returned to you in full on departure provided there are no rent arrears, cleaning charges or damage to the property.

Will I have to pay Council Tax?

Great news… in the UK, students are currently exempt from Council Tax so that’s one less cost to worry about. That said, if you finish your time as a student and don’t immediately leave, you will be liable for Council Tax if it becomes due. Read more here.

Will I have to sign a contract?

Yes, you will. To live here, you’ll need to sign a contract (licence agreement) for a minimum of 44 or 51 weeks. This is a legally binding document so if you have any doubts, concerns or queries – no matter how small – please contact The Maltings team.

We’re happy to discuss the terms of your contract as we don’t want you to sign anything while you’re nervous or unsure. You need to be 100% comfortable and we need to be sure that you understand your committments. Remember, a contract will offer you protection and is actually beneficial if you’re paying rent but you should always know exactly what you’re signing and the terms of the agreement.
