Hi there, my name is Angus! 2017 will be my fourth year of study at UC doing a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Sciences. I have lived in Canterbury all my life and I have loved my time living at Uni Hall. Other than study, my favourite things to do include; performing, tramping, swimming and photography. A random fact about me is that John Mayer and Adele are my dream best friends. My favourite quote is from Charlie Chaplin, “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
Hello and welcome! This is my Fourth year at University studying Mechanical Engineering, I myself started off in Ngata for my first year of study. Before moving to Christchurch I lived on the Kapiti coast for 12 years but enjoyed travelling along New Zealand and seeing the countryside during the holidays. I enjoy riding motorcycles and hiking when not studying. A favourite quote would have to be “If god sends us on strong paths, we are provided strong shoes”- Corrie ten Boom.
I’m Amelia, made it into a 3rd year Geology Major and one of your RA’s in Ngata. I’m from the haven of Nelson and on the water sailing a dinghy is one of my favourite places. My fondest memories have got to be my first year when I was in Uni Hall, when all I did (outside studying obviously) was find neat cafes in the CBD with newly found friends and raiding the unexplored op shops for event costumes, holla! My favourite quote hits me in the heart, “Hello good sir, I would like your finest bottle of wine, please… I would like your most eight dollarest bottle of wine, please. From the finest valley in Arkansas ”Detective Jake Peralta- Brooklyn 99. Let's have a rocking year!
Hey team my name is Curtis Fatiaki. I am a 3rd year student of reading big books (a.k.a Law). I am from the beautiful Islands of Fiji but my favourite part of Aotearoa has to be the sunny East Coast of Gisborne where I spent two wonderful years studying at none other than Gizzy Boys!! I absolutely love music and sports but when I’m not doing that then I’ll be binge watching TV series. Feel free to chat with me anytime, I’m a friendly and outgoing person and love to help where I can. A favourite memory of mine would be beating College House at Inter Hall Sports, or basically anything…best, feeling, ever, trust me. To top it all off here is my inspirational quote, simple but profound in the words of Dr Seuss “You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose, you’re on your own and you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” Cheers team, looking forward to an amazing 2017!
Hi my name is Dan, In 2017 I will be in my third year of study, studying History and Geography. I’m from Timaru, but my favorite part of New Zealand would have to be Twizel up in the high country. My favorite hobby is hanging out with my friends whilst eating. Something you don’t know about me is that I love pugs. My favorite quote would have to be: “Without History, there would be no future”.
I was born and bred in the coastal town of New Plymouth and moved to Uni Hall in 2014 for study. This year I’ll be in my fourth and final year of study, studying to become a Chemistry and Physical Education teacher. My hobbies at the moment are mountain biking and skating. One of my favourite quotes is off Kung Fu Panda “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”
I hail from the deep south of New Zealand in good old Invercargill. I am currently in my 3rd year of Commerce and have completed an Arts Degree in Psychology. My favourite place in New Zealand would have to Central Otago over the Summer, especially Wanaka. I really enjoy any sports with an oval ball and still play Touch competitively, and play Rugby and League every now and then. Something you may not know about me is that I have been a vegetarian since I was only 6 years old. My favourite quote would have to be anything Michael Jordan, played to win but had fun doing it!
I am in my final year of Law and Commerce. I’m from Rangiora, but don’t judge, we actually have traffic lights now. I enjoy running and mountain biking so was pretty stoked when they built the mountain bike park in Christchurch. My favourite quote is; ‘A ship that stays in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for’.
I'll be in my fourth year at UC, studying Law and Arts (Human Services and Sociology). I originally hail from the bustling metropolis of Blenheim, but I now consider Christchurch my second home after three years of study here at UC. Three fun facts about me: I'm a twin, I can do a backflip, and I once acted in a movie on TV. Favourite quote: “I'm going to stop putting things off, starting tomorrow!” – Sam Levenson"
I am in the 5th Year studying for a mater of commerce in Management. I am from Sri Lanka. New Zealand has been my home since I came here to study in 2013. My favourite part of New Zealand is Queenstown. Something you didn't know about me; I played cricket for Sri Lanka at national level. Favourite Quote; Experience is the best teacher
Im Sophie and I can’t wait to kick start 2017 with you all. This year I’ll be fourth year and starting my Masters of Disaster Risk and Resilience after completing my undergrad Bachelor of Science in Geology. I’m from Timaru (Timaz hard), but love heading up to the lakes over summer to get out on the boat, try my luck with a fishing rod, and share a few brews with mates. I’m big into music and sport and you’ll often find me with either a whistle or ukulele in hand. A quote that I rate is: “The same boiling water that softens the potato, hardens the egg. It’s about what you’re made of, not the circumstances.”
I'm currently in my 3rd year studying towards a double degree in arts and science focusing in Maaori and Indigenous studies and Psychology. My favorite part of NZ would be my grandparents farm in Raupunga which is in Hawkes Bay. Some of my hobbies would be hanging out with friends and gaming. My favorite quote would have to be, “He who thinks great thoughts, often makes great errors” – Martin Heidegger.
Hi Guys! I’m Zoe, and I’m in my final year of a BA, majoring in History, minoring in Sociology. I’m originally from the UK but moved here a while ago, starting off in Blenheim and then moving to Christchurch for most of High School up until now. I love most sports (minus watching cricket because it’s like watching paint dry), Netflix binges and my weekly trip to Kmart. A quote that I really like and think is so true is “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind, don’t matter and those who matter, don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss (A very wise man in my book).
