Hey! I'm Emma, your Residential Life Officer here at Waitakiri Village. I look forward to meeting you all, and working with you to help you succeed in your First year at University with our Live, Learn and Grow programme. In my spare time I like to travel, cook and spend time with family and friends.

2017 brings me into my third and final year of a Bachelor of Criminal Justice. I grew up in Napier. My favourite place in New Zealand is Ocean Beach on a scorcher day. I have a huge love for Mexican food and hate walls. My first year was spent singing terrible karaoke at the craic and working at maccas for the discounts. My fave quote is, “Eat glitter for breakfast, and shine all day.”

This year I’ll be studying my second year of a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Financial Engineering. I’m from Ashley (near Rangiora), just 45 minutes north of Uni. My favourite spot in New Zealand would probably have to be Godley Heads. Over summer I pretty much live at the swimming hole down the road from my house. The quote I live by is “you earn your medals in training, you just pick them up at the competition”. No idea who the original author is, but it’s stuck with me for years.

In 2017 I’ll be in second year of my PhD, studying Forestry. My favourite part of NZ is Akaroa. My favourite hobby will be surfing – I haven’t got a chance to learn it, but will do soon. Something you don’t know about me: When I drive my car and listen to some music, I have to keep the volume on even numbers. My favourite quote is: Work hard, play hard – It sounds a bit informal and probably cannot count a quote, but everyone has right to have fun only if they have finished all the work that they need to do.
