cheap eats & bars: SCU Coffs Harbour

Related Village: scu village coffs harbour

Cheap food is like the bat signal for university students.

And we wouldn’t be very good at what we do unless we compiled all of that precious information into one location, would we? We’ve done you a solid and decided to tour the country to find the best places to eat, drink and have a darn good time, no matter what Village you’re from! So here it is: a compiled list of the best places to eat, drink and hang for SCU Village Coffs Harbour residents – something every first year student should know. Thank us later 😉

Top 3 Bars

Hoey Moey
90 Ocean Parade, Coffs Harbour

If the words “$7.50 feeds” don’t get your blood racing then we’re not sure what will. Hoey Moey is one of the local hot spots for all things food, drinks and live entertainment. Based by the beach, Hoey Moey is the perfect go-to venue if you haven’t made plans for the weekend but you want a guaranteed good time. Every day their happy hour has $2.50 middies, and on Super Saturdays they have free bar snacks, schooner raffles and heaps of prizes to win. So sit down, grab a beer and a bite to eat, and kick back with the good vibes of the Hoey Moey.

Element Bar
380 Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour

Their philosophy is “eat, drink, chill”, and to be honest, we can’t argue with that. This place has got fresh food, a fantastic bar and more live music than your ears have room for. Come down and sit in a rustic and modern urban setting right in the heart of Coffs and enjoy the good vibes and fresh tunes. Their burgers will make you weep with happiness. You’re welcome.

The Greenhouse
 A1, Coffs Harbour

This place is a particularly popular hot-spot for Village residents, so it definitely needs to be on the list! With a super relaxed atmosphere and friendly bar staff, it’s easy to see why this place is one of the most popular places for a drink in Coffs Harbour! As well as a huge selection of drinks, the Greenhouse also has a great menu and live music and events all year-round! The best bit? It sends around a courtesy bus to pick you up and drop you off. Need I say more?

Top 3 Eats

Lime Mexican
366 Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour

You can’t go wrong with a bit of Mexican. If there’s anything about spicy food, warm tortillas and margaritas that you’re not keen on, we’re not sure where you’re priorities are. This little industrialised nook-of-a-restaurant boasts traditional Mexican cuisine with bursting bright colours and fresh flavours, all the while appeasing your inner party animal by letting you don their range of sombreros. Because big hats are fun hats. If you’re a seafood-lover try the Seared Scallop Tacos, or if vego is more your thing test out their Vego Salsa Tostadas. Take a good hard look at the Tequila menu if you’re feeling dangerous.

37 Vernon Street, Coffs Harbour

The locals call it “the best coffee in town”, and it’s no wonder, with Artisti bringing their underground knowledge of coffee beans above ground for us mere mortals to sample. The team at Artisti roast, toast, and roast again and put their collective caffeine-fuelled heartbeats on the line so that we may taste only the best of the best of what they have to offer. They also stock some great fresh sandwiches, cakes and pastries for your every taste when getting your coffee fix. Definitely check this place out!

Touch of North India
396a Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour

Calling all Indian-food-fanatics! If you’re missing the traditional tastes of your home, or if you just love Indian cuisine, this place is where the locals go to get their fix. If you’re not a fan of super spicy food, not to worry, they provide a wide range of Indian cuisines to suit each and every pallet. Sit inside or dine outside and take in the fresh Harbour breeze. If you like the kind of spice that takes your head off, give the Lamb Vindaloo a try, or if you prefer to stay seated in your upright position dining, stick to the creamy mango chicken. It won’t disappoint! Did we mention they deliver?

And that’s it! It won’t be hard to tick these places off the SCU Village Coffs Harbour Bucket List and start off your student experience right – heaps of the locals swear by these places, and you’re bound to find yourself there sooner or later! If you have any more great local spots, let us know and we will review them for everyone!

See you next week,
