4 under the radar perks of having a clean apartment

Posted On:

The state of an apartment is a reflection of the people who live in it. The aesthetic perks of having a clean apartment are obvious, however there are also a number of other benefits we don’t visually recognise that influence us daily. A healthy apartment is one that looks well cared for and in turn can comfortably accommodate your housemates, yourself and your guests. Here are four perks of having a clean apartment that usually fly under the radar.

1. Not being worried about surprise guests

Living on campus makes it easier for spontaneous hangouts after class with uni friends. If your apartment and especially toilet are both clean and presentable, you won’t have that anxious feeling that you NEED to tidy up before your friends come inside. You want to be able to give your guests a glass of water without them second guessing how clean the glass is.

2. Decluttered space, decluttered mind

Your environment influences your mindset. A cluttered apartment can be massively distracting from what you’re trying to focus on and in turn can cause more stress on top of everything else you may have going on. Even if it consciously doesn’t bother you, it might bother your house mates. Would you rather walk into an apartment with unwashed dishes in the sink, shoes lying around with missing pairs and random boxes in the hallway or would you rather go home to a clear hallway to walk through and a clean kitchen to cook in? Having a clean apartment facilitates a clear mind and just makes going about your day-to-day activities that much easier.

3. So much room for activities

This one’s a no brainer. The more organised everything is and not lying in various places around the apartment – the more open and spacious the apartment will look. Think of all the possibilities! For example, more room to dance when your jam comes on!

To quote Step Brothers:

Dale: Can we turn our beds into bunkbeds?

Brennan: It will give us so much extra space in our room to do activities!

4. Less time spent cleaning, more time spent for yourself

Doing a full clean of your apartment can actually be more time consuming and energy draining than maintaining one that’s already clean. Even setting a timer for 5, 7, or 10 minutes a day to clean a specific area can save you hours on the weekend trying to tackle everything at once.
